Geneva Study Tour

Every academic year, MA in Human Rights staff lead a one-week study tour to Geneva, which enables students to gain experience and knowledge of human rights advocacy before inter-governmental organisations. Students attend sessions of the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and learn from a wide range of human rights advocates based both inside and outside the UN. This includes meeting government delegates and representatives of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and officers from a wide range of international organisations, including the International Committee for the Red Cross, the International Labour Organization, and the UN High Commission for Refugees. Meetings are also organised with officers from human rights NGOs based in Geneva, for example the Association for the Prevention of Torture and the International Service for Human Rights.
